The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday registered two separate cases against former state ministers — Meher Afroz Chumki and Zakir Hossain on charges of acquiring illegal wealth and conducting suspicious transactions in banks.
ACC Director General Akhtar Hossen confirmed the matter.
Meher Afroz Chumki, the former state minister for women and children affairs, is accused of acquiring illegal wealth worth Tk 5.27 crore. In addition, suspicious transactions worth Tk 22.31 crore were found in her nine bank accounts.
On the other hand, former state minister for primary and mass education Zakir Hossain was accused of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 12.81 crore. Additionally, suspicious transactions amounting to Tk 30.45 crore were found in his nine bank accounts.
