A new political party will be announced soon and officially formed within February, said Abdullah Al Amin, joint member secretary of the National Citizens’ Committee.

“We will form the party by mid-February. Work is progressing towards that goal, and the process is going well. We are already in discussions with student activists involved in the July movement,” he said at a press briefing on Sunday (2 February) following the submission of a memorandum at the Narayanganj deputy commissioner’s office.

Earlier in the morning, leaders and activists of the National Citizens’ Committee marched from the Central Shaheed Minar in Narayanganj to the deputy commissioner’s office.

“We have submitted a memorandum with eight key topics to the deputy commissioner. Law and order in Narayanganj are deteriorating, with rising incidents of extortion, mugging, and traffic congestion. We have discussed these issues,” said Abdullah Al Amin

He further said, “Families of martyrs are facing legal harassment, and we have urged the deputy commissioner to take necessary action. Since Narayanganj was one of the central hubs of the movement, we have also demanded the construction of a memorial to honour the martyrs.”

Among others present at the event were central members of the National Citizens’ Committee, including Shawkat Ali, Tuhin Mahmud, Tamim Ahmed, and Narayanganj representatives Ahmedur Rahman Tonu, Sohel Khan Siddique, Jubayer Hossain, Fazle Rabbi, Roni Khandaker, and Rakib.
