TDS Desk:
Due to dense fog, six international flights were unable to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and were instead diverted to Sylhet and Kolkata, India.
The airport’s Executive Director, Group Captain Kamrul Islam, confirmed the matter on Monday.
“Between 3:30am and 4:50am on Sunday night, six passenger flights could not land at Shahjalal International Airport due to dense fog. These flights were later diverted to Sylhet and Kolkata airports. After 10:30am, the diverted flights gradually began returning to Shahjalal International Airport as conditions improved,” he said.
Fog-induced low visibility often disrupts landings at the airport. In such cases, flights are rerouted to the nearest airports for safety.
