1,752 complaints filed with enforced disappearance commission

A total of 1,752 complaints have been filed with the commission on enforced disappearance, according to the Commission’s President, Justice (retired) Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury. He also mentioned that efforts are ongoing to locate the whereabouts of 330 individuals who are victims of enforced disappearances.

He shared this information during a briefing on the activities of the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances on Tuesday (March 4).

The Commission’s President said that as many as 1,752 complaints have been submitted so far, of which nearly 1,000 complaints and their related documents have been preliminary verified.

Testimonies have been recorded from 280 complainants who approached the Commission. Additionally, about 45 officials from law enforcement and intelligence agencies have also provided their statements, he said.
