Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-12 in a drive on Monday arrested a couple along with 3,920 pieces of Yaba tablets from roundabout on the Dhaka-Uttaranchal Highway, also western side of the Jamuna bridge in Sirajganj Sadar upazila.

The arrested are Azgar Ali, 58, son of late Khatib Uddin of Satkhamar village in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur district and his wife Rabeya Begum, 45.

A press release issued on Tuesday by Usman Gani, Senior Assistant Police Super and Media Officer of RAB-12 revealed that, an intelligence team of RAB-12 set up makeshift check-post at the mentioned place and nabbed the couple along with the drugs after conducting a search. During the drive, the elite team also seized three cell phones and cash of Tk 5130 from their possessions.

The arrested and recovered goods were handed over to Jamuna Bridge western police station and a case was also lodged with the respective thana in this connection, the RAB official claimed.
