A mobile court on Tuesday fined Tk 30,000 to the “Rainbow Ice Lolly Factory” at Khoksabari area of Sirajganj Sadar Upazila for making and marketing ice cream in an unhygienic environment and using unauthorized and unhealthy food colors.
The mobile court led by Md. Ruhul Amin, Executive Magistrate of the District Administration was conducted in presence of Army personnel. During the operation, about 50 bags of ice lollies and 3,000 pieces of adulterated baby food made in a dirty, unhygienic environment were seized and destroyed inside the factory.
Sources of the Army’s 11th Infantry Division said that, the operation was conducted based on allegations that ice cream and baby foods made in an unhygienic environment are being marketed despite the health rules. Investigation showed that these products are substandard, health-threatening and seriously harmful to children.
Executive Magistrate Ruhul Amin said, “The district administration will continue such campaigns to protect public health. No one will be spared, if contaminated food items produce and sell.”
The army has also informed that regular campaigns will continue in the future to eradicate such products that are harmful to children.
