Iran’s armed forces accused Israel of launching strikes at the Islamic republic until Tuesday morning, after US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between the two foes.
“The Zionist regime launched three waves of attacks on sites in Iranian territory until 9am (local time) today,” a spokesman for the armed forces command was quoted as saying on state TV, without providing further details.
Meanwhile Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz said in a statement he had ordered Israel’s military to “continue high-intensity operations targeting regime assets and terror infrastructure in Tehran” in light of “Iran’s blatant violation of the ceasefire declared by the President of the United States.”
Earlier, US President Donald Trump unexpectedly announced a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran in a late-night post on social media. According to him, Iran would halt all operations at Tuesday, with Israel stopping 12 hours later. Trump claimed both sides had agreed to a “Complete and Total CEASEFIRE.”
However, Iran’s Foreign Minister denied any agreement had been reached, though he said Tehran would stop if Israel ceased its “illegal aggression.” There was no official response from Israel.
Iran attacked a US base in Qatar. Trump dismissed the strike as “very weak.” Qatar condemned it, and the UN and China warned of wider consequences. Russia called the US-Israeli attacks on Iran “unprovoked.”
