Shefali Jariwala, famously known as the “Kanta Laga Girl,” has passed away at the young age of 42 at Mumbai’s Bellevue Multi-Speciality Hospital.
While the exact cause of death has not been officially confirmed, some sources suggest that Shefali may have suffered a cardiac arrest.
Reports indicate that she was declared dead before she could be admitted to Bellevue Multi-Speciality Hospital in Andheri, a suburb in northwestern Mumbai.
Shefali had participated in the 13th season of the reality show Bigg Boss. She was previously married to Harmeet Singh, one half of the famous Bollywood music composer duo Meet Bros, in 2004.
However, the couple divorced in 2009. In 2015, Shefali married actor Parag Tyagi. Following her marriage to Harmeet Singh, allegations of domestic violence had surfaced publicly.
Parag Tyagi, a native of Modinagar in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, is best known for playing the role of Vinod Karanjkar in the popular Zee TV serial Pavitra Rishta. Both Shefali and Parag had also participated in the dance reality show Nach Baliye.
Shefali’s sudden demise around 11:30 PM on June 27 has sparked an outpouring of grief on social media, particularly in the comment section of her last Instagram post.
Shefali rose to fame overnight in the early 2000s with the iconic Indi-pop remix music video Kanta Laga. She also made a brief appearance in the 2004 Bollywood film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, alongside Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan.
Born on December 15, 1982, in Mumbai, Shefali held a B.E. degree in Information Technology from Gujarat’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute.
