A college girl was raped by a youth after introducing through facebook. The incident took place at Char Hamkuriya village in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj district on June 21.

The victim filed a case with Tarash Police Station in this connection on June 27 accusing the youth-Arif Hossain, 20, son of Anis Hossain of Nado Syedpur village in the upazila.

According to the case statement, Arif developed love affairs with the college girl, resident at neighboring Raiganj upazila of the district after introducing through facebook few days ago. At one stage, Arif invited her to meet with him in a place of Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway nearby bridge no-9 in Tarash upazila.

On request of the youth, the girl went to meet him on June 21. But, Arif took her to a house of Char-Hamkuriya village and raped her confining in a room.

Hearing her screaming, locals rushed to the spot and rescued her. But, the youth managed to flee sensing the presence of local residents.

Ziaur Rahman, Officer in Charge of Tarash police station said, “After filing the case, we are trying to nab the accused. Besides, investigation is underway.”
