A police constable died after falling from a tree while laying mangoes at Belkuchi Police Station premises in Sirajganj district. The shocking incident occurred on Wednesday morning.
The deceased police constable has been identified as Shajahan Ali (54), BP- 7293092881. He is the son of the late Sekender Sheikh of Datia village under Aminpur Police Station in Bera upazila of Pabna district.
Eyewitnesses said that, the cop fell from the tree by slipping and sustained serious injuries, while climbing a mango tree near the boundary of Belkuchi PS. After that, he was first taken to Belkuchi Upazila Health Complex and the doctor on duty referred him to Shahid M Mansur Ali Medical College and Hospital in Sirajganj town as his condition deteriorated.
Later, he was admitted to the orthopedic department of the Shahid M Mansur Ali Medical College and Hospital, where he died at around 2:00 pm, while undergoing treatment.
Belkuchi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zakeria Hossain said that, “Shahjahan, an elderly man, voluntarily climbed up the mango tree in the police station to accumulate mangoes. We are very saddened by his accidental death. His body has been handed over to the family.”
