At least three people were killed and 10 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck in Pabna’s Santhia upazila early Friday.

The accident happened around 5:30am on Friday on the Pabna-Dhaka Highway in the Purba Bongram area under Santhia upazila.

Of the deceased, two have been identified as – Abed Ali, son of late Hashem Mollah of Shantipur in Sujanagar upazila, and Monsur Ali, son of late Idad Ali of Karigor Para in Ataikula.

The accident left three passengers dead on the spot and injured at least 10 others, according to police.

Madhupur Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mustafizur Rahman confirmed the matter.

The Pabna Express, a passenger bus bound for Pabna from Narayanganj, collided with a stone-laden truck coming from the opposite direction, he said.

The injured were rescued and sent to Pabna General Hospital for treatment. One of the bodies has been kept at the Madhupur Highway Police outpost, said the official, adding police are investigating the incident.
