Girls outperform boys in SSC exam pass rate, GPA-5 achievements

Girls have once again taken the lead over boys in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations, recording superior pass rates and securing more GPA-5 scores this year, according to results published on Thursday.

The exams saw participation from 1,904,086 candidates: 952,389 girls and 951,697 boys.

Of them, 1,303,426 students managed to clear the tests. Female examinees accounted for 676,445 of the successful candidates, surpassing boys by 49,464, as 626,981 boys passed.

Data from the results show that 71.03% of female students passed, compared to 65.88% of boys, marking a notable gap of 5.15 percentage points.

The trend continued in the highest achievers’ bracket. A total of 73,616 girls achieved the coveted GPA-5, outnumbering the 65,416 boys who attained the same, resulting in 8,200 more top scorers among female candidates.
