BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia’s coffin was first taken to her son Tarique Rahman’s residence in Gulshan from Evercare Hospital this morning (31 December).
Family members, and BNP leaders and activists paid their last respects to her there.

Verses from the Holy Quran were recited at the time, with Tarique Rahman taking part in the recitation.

The namaz-e-janaza was held at 3pm across the inner ground of the parliament, its outer premises, and the entire stretch of Manik Mia Avenue.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has sought prayers from the nation for the departed soul of his mother, former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, during her namaz-e-janaza at the Parliament premises in Dhaka.
The three-time prime minister will be laid to eternal rest beside the grave of her husband and former president Ziaur Rahman at Zia Udyan, which is located behind the parliament, around 3:30pm.
After battling multiple illnesses for a long time, Khaleda Zia passed away at Evercare Hospital around 6am yesterday (30 December).
