Musician Farzana Wahid Shayan has always protested through her voice and poetry on the path of struggle. During the student uprising in July 2024, she was also at the centre of that protest spirit. At that time, the song “Bhoy Bangla” sung by her came under widespread discussion.
Now, Shayan has returned with a new song, marking the first anniversary of that uprising. The song titled “Ami July-er Golpo Bolbo Bandhu” was released on her own YouTube channel and Facebook page on 15 July.
About the song, Shayan said, “The 36-day uprising of 2024 was a unique moment in the history of this country. There, people stood up against tyranny unarmed. The isolated resistance that had been going on for a long decade and a half was united in that movement, which finally brought down an autocrat. That experience, that bloody beauty of the struggle is revealed in this song.”
Shayan also has written the lyrics of the track. The music has been arranged by Shafiquzzaman Shaon while the animation video of the song has been made by Suronjit Kumar Rakshit.
