We’ve been vocal in anti-corruption activities: Commerce Advisor

Civil Aviation and Tourism and Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin said, “We have been vocal in anti-corruption activities after taking charge.”

Stating that the July Uprising is a milestone in the movement struggle of Bangladesh, he said, “If we can establish service as a responsibility, then we will understand that we have been able to absorb the main lessons of the July Uprising.”

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the July Resurgence-2025 program organized by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism on the occasion of the July Uprising at a hotel in the capital on Saturday afternoon. At the beginning of the program, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of the July Uprising.”

The Tourism and Commerce Advisor said, “Today we are remembering an important historical moment – the one-year anniversary of the historic July Movement. Deep and humble respect to all the martyrs who died in this July movement, and sympathy and respect to the countless injured. At the same time, deep condolences and sorrow for the loss of lives of various people including students, teachers in the heartbreaking plane crash at Milestone School and College.”

He said, “The July movement has started a new chapter in the history of our state and administration. This chapter is not just about protest or conflict – it is a courageous call for optimism and desire for change and the establishment of the rights of the people. It has started an indomitable journey to create a new non-discriminatory and just state in Bangladesh.”

Among the programs were painting and blood donation programs commemorating the July Uprising of 2024 by the students and the mass public. Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin inaugurated the program by donating blood. In addition, tourism fair was organized to commemorate the July Uprising. A total of 10 stalls participated in the fair. The Commerce Advisor visited various stalls with the guests.

The event was chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Ms. Nasrin Jahan, and the Special Envoy of the Principal Advisor (Advisor Rank) on International Relations, Lutfey Siddiqi, was the special guest. The event was also addressed by the Additional Secretary (Aviation and CA) of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Abdun Naser Khan. In addition, Md. Sabbir Ahmed, who lost his sight on August 4 in the student uprising, spoke about the July uprising.
