Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has blamed deposed former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for arranging the worst elections in world history during her 15-year tenure.

“She (Hasina) crossed all limits of rigging in the 2014 election. At least 100 people were killed in post-poll violence. There were allegations of ballot boxes being stuffed before the election,” he said on Monday.

While addressing a seminar held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka this afternoon, the law adviser said that the former prime minister has been telling lies for a long time over the election.

“She established a society based on falsehood. She used enforced disappearances as a means to deceive people,” he said.

“It was a rare instance in the world that she (Hasina) was used to threatening the people and provoking them. She used to treat people as slaves,” Nazrul said.

The July Uprising was the culmination of the people’s collective anger and the country’s all the people are the sole owners of the achievement, he said.

About the country’s prevailing law and order situation, he urged the countrymen to ensure their self-correction for the greater interest of the nation.

The ruined democracy will be established on a strong basement if a free, fair and inclusive election is held in the country and Bangladesh will reach a better position in the global perspective, he said.
