Portfolios have been allocated among the 10 advisers in the new government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. A notification regarding this was issued by the Cabinet Division on Tuesday.

These allocations of responsibilities were made by the prime minister according to the “Rules of Business”. Among these 10 advisers, 5 have been appointed with the status of minister and 5 with the status of state Minister.

Among the advisers with the status of minister, Mirza Abbas Uddin Ahmed, Nazrul Islam Khan, and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed have been appointed as political advisers.

Additionally, Md Ismail Jabiullah has been given the responsibility of adviser for the Ministry of Public Administration, and Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir has been given the responsibility of adviser for the Ministry of Finance and Planning.

On the other hand, among the advisers appointed with the status of state minister, Humayun Kabir has been assigned the Ministry of of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, and Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

Brigadier General (retd) Shamsul Islam has been assigned the Ministry of Defence. Zahed Ur Rahman has been assigned Policy and Strategy. Mahdi Amin has been assigned the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, and Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Rehan Asif Asad has been assigned the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and Ministry of Science and Technology.

On 17 February, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman took the oath as prime minister, along with 25 full ministers and 24 state ministers. At the time, these 10 individuals were appointed as advisers with the status of minister and state minister in the new government.
