Ullapara Correspondent:

A school student drowned in the Karotoa river near Paikpara Sontola village in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj district on Sunday. His body was recovered on Monday noon after a massive search, said fire service and civil defense officials.

The deceased is Rakib Hossain, 14, son of Abdul Awal of the Paikpara village and also class-VIII student of Hazi Aminul Islam High School in Balshabari.

He went missing, while bathing in the river along with his four friends. On information, life saving forces of fire service and civil defense reached to the spot and lent their helping hands to rescue him. But, their effort went in vain due to strong current of the river. As a result, they postponed their drive for the day. On Monday, before starting the drive of fire fighters, locals found his floating body and recovered it with their own efforts.
