Road Transport and Bridges minister, also in charge of the ministries for Railways and Shipping, Sheikh Rabiul Alam, today said that there will be no disruption in Eid travel or increase in ticket prices due to fuel shortages.
Speaking to reporters at the Dhaka Secretariat metro rail station, he said the government has “adequate and safe fuel reserves.”
“Fuel prices are not increasing before Eid,” he said.
The minister emphasised that buses will be provided with adequate fuel to ensure smooth travel during the holiday rush.
He added that the government is committed to preventing any inconvenience for passengers during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year.
Earlier, the minister highlighted the growing popularity of the metro rail, noting that it has become a highly effective mode of transport for commuters in Dhaka.
“The government plans to transform Dhaka’s transport system by making the metro rail its backbone and integrating other services, including monorail,” he added.
