Police arrested a local leader of the banned political organization, Awami League with locally-made liquor from Baraigram upazila in Natore district on Monday.

The arrested is Ishak Ali Molla, 58, a resident of Mariya village in the upazila.

According to locals, Ishak was roaming in Laxmikol bazaar on Monday noon. At that time, he was apprehended by local Jubo Dal-Chhatra Dal activists and handed over to police.

Police seized half a litre of locally made liquor from his bag.

Baraigram Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Golam Sarwar Hossain confirmed the incident and said that the arrested has been produced before the court after filing a case under the Narcotics Control Act.
