National Fisheries Week-2025 was observed in Raiganj through various programmes on Monday.

Marking the day, a colourful procession was brought out that marched the main streets of the upazila headquarters.

Later, a discussion meeting was held with the initiative of upazila administration and upazila Fisheries Department.

Speakers at the event said that, it is possible to move the country forwards by cultivating fishes with modern technologies. There is no alternative of giving highly emphasis on fish cultivating to meet the demand of protein for all people.

The programme was presided over by Humayun Kabir, UNO of Raiganj, while Senior Fisheries Officer Shariful Islam, former President of upazila BNP Md Shamsul Islam, Nayebe Ameer of Jama’at-e-Islami Bangladesh Abul Kalam Biswas, President of upazila Jubo Dal Abdur Razzaque Rana, General Secretary Obaydullah Khan Parish and Convener of Sechchasebok Dal Mokades Hossain among others were also present at the event.

The benefiting fish farmers of the upazila were also present there. At the end of the programme, prizes were distributed among the selected fish farmers with the aim to encourage them in fish farming.
