Anindya Islam Amit, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, has said that the country currently holds the highest level of fuel reserves in its history, ensuring adequate supply for April and May.
He made the remarks during a visit to Eastern Refinery Limited in Patenga, Chattogram on Friday.
Anindya also noted that preparations are underway to secure fuel supplies for June.
He said the government is continuing efforts to procure fuel from multiple sources to maintain a stable supply. Due to the ongoing suspension of refining operations at Eastern Refinery, authorities are placing increased reliance on the import of refined petroleum products.
Referring to the current load shedding situation, the state minister said electricity distribution is being managed with priority given to the industrial and agricultural sectors amid prevailing global energy challenges. As a result, residential consumers are receiving comparatively lower supply.
