TDS Desk:

The holy Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) will be observed in Bangladesh on 6 September (Saturday), as the new moon of Rabiul Awal 1447 Hijri was not sighted on Sunday evening.

With no sighting of the crescent moon, the current month of Safar will be completed as 30 days on Monday (25 August).

Consequently, the month of Rabiul Awal will begin on Tuesday (26 August).

The decision was announced at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held on Sunday at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, presided over by AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik, secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

In a press release signed by Shaila Sharmin, assistant public relations officer of the Islamic Foundation, it was confirmed that data from all district administrations, the Islamic Foundation’s headquarters and regional offices, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, and the Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARRSO) were reviewed.

The analysis concluded that the moon of Rabiul Awal 1447 Hijri was not visible anywhere in the Bangladeshi sky on Sunday evening, corresponding to 29 Safar 1447 Hijri, 9 Bhadra 1432 Bangla calendar, and 24 August 2025.
