Tank lorry workers of Baghabari in Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj district on Sunday observed a half-day strike in protest against the arrest of Aslam Ali, Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Tank Lorry Workers Federation.

The programme was held from 6:00 am to 12:00Pm on Sunday. During this, all the workers of the North Bengal Tank Lorry Workers Union located in Baghabari of Shahjadpur held a protest rally at the main gate of the Baghabari Oil Depot and stopped oil extraction and supply. This disrupted fuel oil supply to 16 districts of the northern Bangladesh.

The workers said that, if their leader is not released very soon, a strict action plan will be taken later.
