A farmer was killed by lightning strike while working in a field at Malshin village in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj district on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Aziz, 45, of Malshin village under Madhainagar union in the upazila.

Locals said, Abdul Aziz was ploughing his land using a power tiller despite light rainfall. Suddenly, a loud thunderclap was heard, followed by a lightning strike. Aziz lost consciousness and collapsed on the spot, dying instantly.

Local UP member Moktar Hossain said, “Aziz was working in the field nearby his house during the rain. He was struck by lightning and died on the spot.”
