Ashna Habib Bhabna, once a regular face in TV dramas, is now choosing her film projects more selectively. Earlier this year, she completed work on ‘Land of the Princess’, where she plays the lead role of Princess Rosie opposite a cast of Jatra artistes. To embody the character, Bhabna gained nine kilograms.

Although her filmography is not extensive, Bhabna’s roles have consistently drawn attention. Speaking about her latest project, she said, “The idea of this film aligns with my philosophy. We have lost a true art form in today’s glamorous world and the same is happening with Jatra. The director brought that story to the screen, and I trusted the director, the story and my character.”

To prepare for the role, Bhabna not only transformed physically but also trained in the distinctive dance style of princesses. “I am a classical dancer, but for this film I had to master a completely different form. Acting alongside Jatra artistes also helped me shape myself as a princess,” she explained. “I believe this film will stand out and give the audience food for thought. I’m very optimistic about it.”

Directed by Asif Aslam, Land of the Princess began shooting in January in Gobindapur, Faridpur. Filming has wrapped, and post-production is underway. The director confirmed plans to send the film to several international festivals later this year before its release in Bangladesh in 2026.

The cast also includes Arvindu Majumder, Mahmud Alam, AK Azad Setu, Jannatul Baker Khan and Salahuddin Sheikh.
