Police said the accused is in their custody and will be shown arrested in the case filed by the victim’s mother

A man was arrested yesterday after a class seven schoolgirl was allegedly raped at her private tutor’s home in Subarnachar upazila in Noakhali, police said.

The victim’s mother filed a case against Md Kamal Uddin, 55, father of her tutor, under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Char Jabbar Police Station last night, said Officer-in-Charge Md Rafiqul Hasan.

According to case statement, the girl had gone to her tutor’s house for tuition yesterday morning. No one else was at home that time.

Kamal Uddin allegedly called her inside, locked the door and raped her. He allegedly gave the girl Tk 500 and warned her not to disclose the incident before letting her leave, the statement said.

After returning home, the girl told her family what had happened. As news spread, locals intercepted Kamal near Khaser Hat intersection, assaulted him and tied him to a tree before handing over to police.

Police rescued the suspect and took him into custody. The victim has been sent to a hospital in Noakhali for a medical tests.
