Two brothers in Sirajganj have allegedly secured government jobs using the Freedom Fighter (FF) certificate and credentials of their maternal uncle by falsely identifying him as their father in official documents.

The accused, Abdur Rashid and Saleh Akram, are biological sons of Rustam Ali and Rehana Begum from Dashsika village under Kamarkhanda Upazila.

However, in their official records used to land lucrative public sector jobs under the Freedom Fighter (FF) quota, they listed Heroic (Bir) Freedom Fighter Gazi S M Abul Kashem as their father and his second wife, Rezia Parvin, as their mother.

Investigation reveals that, Abdur Rashid has been working as a primary school teacher at Hamkuriya Government Primary School for nearly 10 years, while his brother Saleh Akram has been serving in the Bangladesh Army for around 15 years. Freedom Fighter Gazi S M Abul Kashem, a resident of Singargati village in Sirajganj Sadar, has only one biological child—a daughter named Amena Khatun.

Amena Khatun presented her father’s official inheritance certificate confirming she is his sole heir. She demanded a thorough investigation and exemplary punishment for those involved in forging documents to usurp her father’s identity.

When confronted, the accused brothers claimed they were raised by their aunt and uncle from childhood and saw nothing wrong with using their uncle’s identity on legal papers. The freedom fighter’s second wife Rezia Parvin, also evaded questions regarding the fraudulent use of the certificate.

Sirajganj administration officials—including Primary Education Officer Apel Mahmud, Additional District Magistrate (Education and ICT) Rozina Akhter, and Deputy Director of Local Government Mohammad Kamrul Islam—have assured that a formal investigation will be initiated. District Commissioner Md. Aminul Islam stated that, “Strict legal action would be taken against the perpetrators and any accomplices involved in issuing fake inheritance documents once the inquiry concludes.”
