Four more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Monday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 97 this year.

In the 24-hour span, 1,163 more patients were hospitalised with dengue, raising the total caseload to 35,846 in 2026.

Among the fatalities, which included two men and two women, two were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and one each in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Mymensingh division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the latest cases, 132 patients were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 120 in Chattogram division, 159 in Dhaka division, 182 under DNCC, 123 under DSCC, 283 in Khulna division, 69 in Mymensingh division, 87 in Rajshahi division, seven in Rangpur division, and one in Sylhet division.

DGHS data shows that men account for 61.9% of infections so far this year, while women represent 38.1%.

Currently, 2,544 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.

According to official data, Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease in 2025.

In 2024, the country reported 101,214 dengue infections and 575 deaths.

The previous year (2023) saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospitalisations.
