Police have rearrested the theft suspect, who made a daring escape from the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Sirajganj by pushing past police officers two days ago.
The suspect, 22-year-old Abdul Momin, son of Abdus Sabur from the Kobdaspara area of Sirajganj town, was rearrested at around 12:00 PM on Saturday (September 5) through a joint operation launched by the Sirajganj Sadar Police Station and the District Detective Branch (DSB). They police forces nabbed him from a village adjacent to the Chhatiantali Market in Kalia Haripur Union under Sadar Upazila.
It is mentionable that, Momin escaped on Thursday (September 3) at approximately 11:45 AM, when he was brought to the second-floor lockup of the court building along with several other inmates centering a scheduled court appearance.
While being held, he shoved past officers and leaped from the second floor to escape, triggering significant concern and raising serious questions regarding police security protocol inside the court premises.
Following a two-day manhunt, law enforcement agencies successfully tracked him down.
Confirming the arrest in a media message, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station, Md. Rakibul Hasan, stated that the fugitive suspect had been taken into custody and that legal proceedings against him are currently underway.
