Police recovered the bodies of a husband, his wife and their child from a house in the Jamgarh area of Ashulia in Savar on Friday night.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Police recovered the bodies from a house owned by Hazrat Ali in central Jamgarh after locals reported a bad smell coming from a room.
According to locals, the doors and windows of the room had remained closed for some time. The couple had rented the house, introducing themselves as husband and wife.
After noticing the bad smell from the room on Friday night, locals informed police. Police later went to the house and recovered the bodies.
A CID forensic team visited the house on Saturday morning and collected various pieces of evidence.
Ashulia Police Station duty officer SI Russell Hossain said the police recovered the bodies after receiving information from locals.
“The deceased included a husband, his wife and their child,” he said.
He added that the husband had a towel wrapped around his neck.
