Head teachers of government primary schools will now draw salaries and benefits in the 10th grade. However, the ministry will determine whether this benefit for the teachers will be effective from the current month of November or from a previous month. A government order (GO) regarding this matter will be issued very soon.
Head teachers in the 10th grade will receive a salary ranging from Tk16,000 to Tk38,640. Currently, in the 11th grade, they receive a salary ranging from Tk12,500 taka to Tk30,230 taka.
This information was learned from sources in the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on Tuesday.
Sources indicate that the Finance Division has given its consent. The ministry will soon issue the government order after deciding from which month the salaries and benefits for head teachers under the new grade will commence.
Senior Assistant Secretary of the Finance Division Md Mahbubul Alam told journalists, “The Ministry of Finance has given its consent regarding the upgradation of the jobs of head teachers of government primary schools from the 11th grade to the 10th grade. A letter from the Finance Division has been sent to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on this matter. As soon as they issue the government order, head teachers will start receiving salaries and benefits in the 10th grade.”
Prior to this, the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance issued a letter on Monday regarding this matter. The letter stated that the Ministry of Public Administration and the Ministry of Finance have consented to the grade increase for the head teachers of 65,502 government primary schools.
In light of this, the Expenditure Management Department of the Finance Division has reviewed the matter. Following this, the Finance Division consented to the proposal for upgrading the jobs of head teachers from the 11th grade to the 10th grade.
The Finance Division’s letter further stated that to implement the new salary grade for head teachers, the memorandum from the Ministry of Public Administration dated 7 October and the conditions from the Expenditure Management Wing dated 28 July must be complied with. The posts will remain fillable as per the Government Primary School Teacher Recruitment Rules 2025.
