Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member and former state minister for power Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said, “Some political parties are trying to thwart the election with unfair intention as they know they will not get votes of people. But, their effort will not be fulfilled. We will not give them that opportunity. BNP along with the country’s people has been fought for 17 years to restore the democracy. After a fanatic effort, Awami League chief Hasina was forced to leave the country. We will never give her chance to return again.”

The BNP leader came up with the remarks, while he was accorded a warm reception at Rail Gate area near truck terminal in Sirajganj town on Wednesday as the first visit to Sirajganj after obtaining BNP nomination for Sirajganj-2 Constituency (Sirajganj Sadar-Kamarkhanda).

Criticizing Jama’at Ameer statements, Tuku said, Jama’at claims referendum before national parliament election as they (Jama’at leaders) know that they will defeat, if participates in election. This is why, they are trying to thwart the election in anyhow. But BNP will not give them that chance.

Tuku also said, all people of the country should be united again against the religion trader Jama’at Islami Bangladesh like the 1971. Jama’at leaders opposed independence and played anti-libration role during the liberation war. They don’t have love to country. They just want power to snatch the independence of Bangladesh. So don’t believe their words. All of you must vote for paddy sheaf as Ziaur Rahman was the front liner fighter during the liberation war. He was also proclaimer of the independence. He fought against the Pakistani Army from the field level. His elder son Tarique Rahman now wants to take the responsibility of the country for the sake of people. So come to one umbrella of BNP to protect the Bangladesh from the fascists.

Former General Secretary of the town BNP and incumbent Joint General Secretary of the district BNP Munshi Zahed Alam presided over the programme.

District BNP General Secretary Saidur Rahman Bachhu, town BNP Vice-President Selim Bhuiyan and other leaders of BNP’s front organizations also spoke on the occasion.
