BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that the Awami League nurtures a culture of igniting vehicles, establishments, and burning people to death.

He made the remarks on Thursday while addressing a programme in the capital.

Rizvi said, “BNP has learned from its founder, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, his wife Begum Khaleda Zia, and the party’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman.”

Referring to Tarique Rahman’s role before and after August 5, he added, “Earlier, we were in the final phase of our movement, and later, the inspiring speech that Tarique Rahman delivered on nation-building was truly instructive. He never used abusive language against his political opponents— he always spoke in a civilized manner.”

The BNP leader further said, “Awami fascism represents a political force that has suffocated the people. They seized power by force, plundered the banks, and laundered money in the name of mega projects. Out of greed, they now want to return under the guise of new programmes such as lockdowns. And for that, they are killing people with fire. The Awami League has a culture of arson and burning people — they have proven it once again.”

Rizvi also alleged that the Awami League committed such crimes even while in power.
