Staff Correspondent:
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday ordered the closure of illegal canteens and expired establishments (pharmacies) inside government hospitals.
This instruction was given through a notification on Friday (May 10).
The instructions state that illegal, unauthorized, leased expired pharmacies, canteens or cafeterias located in all medical colleges, hospitals, specialized hospitals, district sadars, general hospitals, and upazila health complexes in the country will be completely closed. However, if there are government dues or debts, the instructions should be followed by making arrangements to collect them.
It is also said that permission cannot be given to set up any new pharmacy, canteen or cafeteria inside the government hospital.
Instructions have already been given to the concerned to take action regarding the non-renewal of approval of the pharmacy-canteen established.
