Three people including a woman died due to a lightning strike at the Alokbali Union char area in Narsingdi.

The incident happened around 11:30 am on Saturday (May 18) at a place called Nunder Chawk adjacent to Alokbali North Para.

Narsingdi Model Police Station OC Md. Tanveer Ahmed confirmed the matter.

The deceased are – Sharifa Begum, 50, wife of Aman Mia of Alokbali Union, Qayyum Mia, 20, son of Hashem Ali of the same union and Iqbal Hosan, 12, of Raipura Upazila.

Citing locals, OC Md. Tanveer Ahmed said that when some workers were harvesting paddy at around 11:30 am on Saturday, rain with thundershowers started. At that time, three people including a woman died due to a lightning strike.
