Two women and a child went missing after a boat sank in the Surma River due to strong current in Dowarabazar upazila of Sunamganj on Tuesday.

The missing individuals are Dulu Begum, Josna Begum, and Moyna Begum.

Citing local people, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Neher Negar Tonu said the incident took place this morning when the trio was heading to Dowarabazar from Azampur village by boat.

Although the boatman managed to swim ashore, the trio went missing in the incident, she added.

Divers from local firefighting units were conducting a rescue operation to locate the missing individuals, reports UNB.
