A truck of banned Polythene recovered in Sirajganj, 2 held

Hatikumrul Highway thana police in a drive on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway near Hatikumrul intersection in Sirajganj district recovered a truck of banned Polythene weighing around 5 tonnes on Wednesday.

During the drive, police also arrested the truck driver and its helper and seized the truck, which was being used for transporting the banned goods.

The arrested are truck driver Kamrul Hasan Mintu, 28, son of late Kasir Uddin of Dewlia village in Baghmara upazila in Rajshahi district and helper Abdullah Al Mahid, 18, son of Abdul Mannan of the same village.

Abdur Rauf, Officer in Charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police station said, “Being informed by a secrete source, a team of highway thana police set up a makeshift check-post nearby Ankhi Jamuna Hotel on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway and recovered the banned Polythene after conducting a search to a Rajshahi bound truck (Dhaka Metro-Da-11-7674) coming from Dhaka.

The OC also said that, legal process is underway. Necessary action would be taken after further investigation.

It is to be mentioned that, the interim government has taken a tougher stance against polythene to prevent environment pollution.
