Abducted Forest Department workers among 18 rescued from Teknaf hill

Three Forest Department workers and 15 other individuals, who were abducted on Monday morning, have been rescued from the den of bandit group in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf’s hilly area.

Police, RAB and APBn personnel with the help of the Forest Department rescued them jointly from a forest in Teknaf’s Hnila union around 5PM on Tuesday.

Cox’s Bazar RAB-15 Lt Col HM Sazzad Hossain confirmed about the rescue.

“Our effort was to rescue the abductees alive. We started the operation from Tuesday. Basically, the abductors panicked due to the drone operation,” he said.

They were abducted from Teknaf’s hilly Jadimora area in Hnila union at around 10AM on Monday.

Teknaf has become a hotbed for abductions in recent months.

According to Cox’s Bazar District Police and families of victims, 143 people were kidnapped from various areas of Teknaf in the last 14 months. Among them, 86 were locals and 56 Rohingyas.
