The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned British Labour Party MP Tulip Siddiq, the niece of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, for questioning over allegations of abuse of power and receiving unlawful benefits.

Tulip has been asked to appear at the ACC headquarters in Dhaka’s Segunbagicha at 10am on 22 June, a senior ACC official   on Sunday (June 15).

According to the commission, the summons relates to accusations that Tulip, allegedly using her influence, took unlawful possession of a flat without any payment and later facilitated the official registration of the property.

The flat in question is located at Road No 71 in Gulshan.

She allegedly received the flat as an illicit reward from Eastern, a private entity, and was involved in the official registration process through improper means.
