An investigation team of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday claimed to have found a farm belonging to the controversial Sadeeq Agro in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.

ACC officials said that they found three cows and seven Brahma calves resembling Brahmin cows during a sudden visit to the farm in the Bhanga Bridge area under the Bhakurta union of Savar.

The team sent the cows and calves to the Central Institute for Research on Livestock (CIRC) to test the breed of the animals.

ACC Assistant Director Abul Kalam Azad said, “We have found three cows and seven calves like the Brahmin breed. We also have some documents.”

He also said they would take legal action if they were found to be Brahmin cows, as the import and breeding of the variety of cows were banned in Bangladesh.

Earlier, a nine-member ACC team, led by Assistant Director Abul Kalam Azad, conducted an investigation at the CIRC in Savar to investigate corruption allegations of officials giving benefits to Sadeeq Agro by handing over illegally-imported 15 Brahman cows.

In 2021, the owner of Sadeeq Agro Mohammad Imarn Hossain flew in 18 cows of the Brahmin breed from America by forging documents, and the cows were seized at the airport. Later, the cows were kept at CIRC before being handed over to Imran.

The Brahmin cows caused a stir on social media after Sadeeq Agro sold a goat for Tk1.5 million and a banned Brahman cow to a businessman.
