A Dhaka court on Wednesday ordered actor Siddiqur Rahman Siddique to be shown as arrested in a case filed over the killing of furniture worker Parvez Bepari in Gulshan.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain passed the order following a petition filed by the investigation officer of the case Sub-Inspector Samiul Islam of Gulshan Police Station.
According to the case statement, Parvez Bepari joined the anti-discrimination student movemen on 19 July last year in Gulshan area. He was allegedly fired by the accused.
He was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Parvez’s father, Md Sabuj, later filed the case with Gulshan Police Station.
Earlier, on Tuesday (29 April) afternoon, a group of men identifying themselves as members of “Jatiotabadi Chatradal” apprehended and assaulted actor Siddique while he was passing through Bailey Road in the capital.
They later handed him over to the police. He was initially taken to Ramna Police Station and later transferred to Gulshan Police Station.
On 30 April, court granted a 7-day remand for actor Siddiqur Rahman Siddique in a case filed over the attempted murder of Jabbar Ali Hawlader.
