Entertainment Desk:
Adnan Al Rajeev’s short film ‘Ali’ has been officially selected for screening at the Melbourne International Film Festival in Australia.
The festival’s 73rd edition, featuring over 275 films from across the globe, will run from August 7 to August 24.
Adnan shared the news on his Facebook account expressing his gratitude: “After the incredible journey at Cannes, we’re honoured to have “Ali” selected by Melbourne International Film Festival for its Australian premiere. Thank you for giving this story another global stage.”
Previously, “Ali” received a Special Jury Mention at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, marking it as the first Bangladeshi film to win an official award at Cannes.
“Ali” is a 15-minute narrative that follows the story of a teenager living in a conservative coastal town in Bangladesh, where women are forbidden to sing. Hoping for a way out, the boy enters a singing competition in the city — with a twist: he can sing in a female voice.
“Ali” is produced by Tanvir Hossain from Bangladesh and Kristine De Leon from the Philippines, with line production by Runout Films.
