No alternative of awareness in preventing human trafficking’

Ganapati Roy, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Sirajganj called upon the government and private organizations to work together to create awareness among the entire society to prevent human trafficking.

He came up with the remarks while addressing a workshop held at the Shahid A.K. Shamsuddin Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Sirajganj town on Wednesday.

The workshop on ‘Combating Human Trafficking through Strengthening 4Ps Project’ was organized by the BRAC Migration Programme.

The speaker also said that such effective programs that BRAC Migration Program is implementing to prevent human trafficking will play an important role in making the general public of Sirajganj more aware.

In his speech, he called on government organizations related to the migration sector to work together for human trafficking survivors.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education, ICT and Human Resources) Rozina Akhter also spoke at the district advocacy workshop. In her speech, she said, “The violence of brokers is increasing alarmingly. They are trafficking and deceiving people by showing various false temptations. It is not right to make mistakes in the words of brokers.”

Sirajganj Technical Training Center Principal Md. Anwar Hossain said, “There is no alternative to going abroad after becoming skilled through training. Those, who say they will arrange to go abroad without training, are deceiving people.”

Sirajganj District Administration Assistant Commissioner (Expatriate Welfare Branch) Akhiruzzaman, Manager of Expatriate Welfare Bank Akhlaqur Rahman Ujjal, Assistant Director of District Employment and Manpower Office Md. Abdul Hannan, Assistant Director of Regional Passport Office Muntakim Md. Ibrahim also spoke in the discussion.
