Among the six films released this Eid, “Daagi” marks the silver screen return of Afran Nisho after two years. Since its release on Eid day, the film has been running houseful in cineplexes, with steady audience presence in theatres—much to the delight of the actor and the entire production team.

Just a day after release, Shahriar Shakil, head of production house Alpha-i, shared some positive updates.

He stated that “Daagi” had 34 shows running in multiplexes on Eid day, and within a day, 10 more shows have been added.

According to Alpha-i, “Yesterday there were 34 shows at Star Cineplex alone. On Wednesday that number has risen to 44. That means we’ve added 10 more shows.” While some on social media dismissed the news as fake, the production house clarified that the update is official.

“We’re not concerned with who is calling it fake or not—what’s true is what we’ve shared,” the statement read.

“Daagi” is Nisho’s second feature film, where he stars opposite Tama Mirza. The film also features Sunerah Binte Kamal and is directed by Shihab Shaheen.

Meanwhile, audience response has also started pouring in online. On IMDb, one fan wrote, “I’m completely satisfied after watching ‘Daagi’. Afran Nisho’s performance was outstanding. This film is absolutely worth it—everyone should watch it. It beautifully blends emotion, gripping cinematography, and Nisho’s legendary acting.”

Another viewer commented, “This is more than just a film. Featuring Afran Nisho and Tama Mirza, it delivers an unforgettable cinematic journey through action, romance, and a thought-provoking message. Without a doubt, this is the best Bangladeshi film of the year.”

On Facebook, a user named Sushmita wrote, “‘Daagi’ might not be liked by everyone. The person sitting next to me said there was no story in the film. But I found one. Nisho’s performance moved me to tears—twice. I urge everyone to go watch it in theatres. Once someone is marked by prison, once society labels them as daagi, they can never truly be free again.”
