Mahfuj Alam, adviser to the interim government, said that the Awami League, labelled as fascists and anti-Bangladesh, will not be permitted to participate in elections.
He made these remarks while exchanging greetings with students and locals at Hajiganj Bazar in Chandpur on Saturday.
He said: “The elections will be contested among pro-Bangladesh groups only.”
Mahfuj Alam added: “All political parties, whether BNP-Jamaat or others, along with student organizations, workers, women, and scholars who are pro-Bangladesh, will establish future governance through a fair electoral process.
“They will create a just and non-discriminatory system for the people of Bangladesh,” he further added.
He also said: “Our government’s priorities include prosecuting killers, addressing cases of abduction, murder, and rape, introducing reforms, and delivering a fair election with the participation of all pro-Bangladesh political parties. This has not been achieved in the last 16 years.”
