BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Advocate Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal has said that Ziaur Rahman was the first person to send Bangladeshi labour abroad.
He sent the first 6,000 workers overseas, establishing a strong foundation for remittance.
He made these remarks at a discussion meeting organized by Zia Parishad at the National Press Club auditorium, marking the 89th birth anniversary of BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman on Saturday.
Alal said: “Ziaur Rahman contributed as a hardworking individual in personal, family, and social life. Just as the love and compassion of a mother cannot be copied, Ziaur Rahman’s ideals cannot be replicated.”
The former president of the Jubo Dal further said: Saturday the country is witnessing a wave of reform. Two years ago, under the leadership of our acting chairman Tarique Rahman, we presented a proposal for reform to the nation. To the young students present here Saturday, I urge you to unite the nation through good deeds. Collective strength is the strength of the country. Do not use this strength against your elders; instead, use it to build the nation. Develop your leadership skills, and it will bring good results.”
