Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has announced the suspension of all its programmes and exhibitions until further notice, citing security risks following recent attacks on the cultural organisations Chhayanaut and Udichi.

The decision was formalised in an official memorandum signed on Friday by Purnolakha Chakma, Deputy Director (Administration) of the academy. The memorandum stated that, in view of the current situation, all activities under the academy will remain suspended until further instructions.

The memorandum also referenced the address of Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government, who announced the observance of state mourning tomorrow, December 20, following the death of Sharif Osman bin Hadi.

No timeline has been provided for when the suspended programmes and exhibitions will resume.
