Cry for justice..!

Staff Reporter:

Allegation of occupying the land and homesteads of a visually impaired person at Betgari village in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj district has been raised against an influential group of people.

Meanwhile, a written complaint has been submitted by the victim’s brother to the Ullapara Model Police Station seeking proper investigation into the matter with the aim to get fair justice.

According to the written complaint, a long standing feud had been going on between the men of Nur Mohammad and sight impaired Al-Amin of the Betbari village in the upazila over 11 decimals of land, where Al-Amin with his family members had been living for long. Not only that, a case over the factional land is still under trial of court. At one stage on April 23, Nur Mohammad and his associates stormed into the house, vandalized various furniture and ransacked valuable goods.

Hasan Ali, brother of the victim Al Amin Hossain said, “We are owners of the conflicting 11 decimals of land at Betbari Mouza according to our inheritance sources. We have been residing in the land after occupying since our ancestors. But some people, including Nur Mohammad, also an influential person in the area, have been trying to take possession of the land illegally by using muscle power. They (Nur Mohammad and his associates) are claiming ownership of the property by preparing some fake documents. There has been a dispute with them over this issue for a long time. Cases are also pending in the court regarding this issue. However, Nur Mohammad Shanta, his associate Abdur Rashid, Hossain Ali, Roni, Hasi Khatun, Lipi Khatun and a few other people attacked Al Amin’s house with several sharp weapons including shields, sticks and strips on the mentioned date and carried out violence.”

“We are real owners of the land as we have all documents in this context. Besides, we did not carry out any unauthentic attack on them,” said Nur Mohammad’s son Hossain Ali, while he was contacted by this correspondent.

Anwar Hossain, SI of the Ullapara police station said, “Investigation is still underway over the issue. Necessary action would be taken as per law after completion of the investigation.”
