A Dhaka court has fixed July 31 as the date for taking the evidence of the ACC’s case against Mohammad Mosaddek Ali Falu, the former adviser of the BNP Chairperson, on the charge of amassing illegal wealth.
On Tuesday, Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-10 was scheduled to testify in the case. As no witness came to testify on that day, the ACC applied to postpone the taking of testimony. The court granted the time application and fixed July 31 as a new date for taking the next evidence.
The case was filed on July 8, 2007, at the capital’s Motijheel police station. ACC Assistant Director Jahangir Alam filed the chargesheet in the court on February 14 of the following year.
After filing the charge sheet, Falu and his wife moved the High Court to quash the case. Due to this, the case trial remained closed for a long time. Later, the High Court dismissed Falu’s case. As a result, on August 27, 2018, the court framed the complaint in the case while Falu was absconding.
The complaint in the case said that the Anti-Corruption Commission had issued a notice of filing of asset declaration on February 18, 2007. According to the notice, Falu submitted an account of assets through a lawyer on March 1 of that year. In the investigation of ACC, assets of Tk 45 crore 66 lakh 8 thousand 866 were found to be undisclosed income and Tk 10 crore 60 lakh 42 thousand 514 as confidential.
